Once in Guyana a Savings Account holder of NBS residing either, locally or abroad, can do a withdrawal from their account by completing a withdrawal slip and presenting some form of acceptable identification with their passbook at any of the Society's Branches.
Residing outside of Guyana
Any member of NBS residing outside of Guyana can make a deposit to their account by sending a cheque or draft to the New Building Society Limited or do a wire transfer to either of NBS' Current Accounts at the National Bank of Industry and Commerce (Water St. Georgetown), Account No. 6506232 or the Bank of Nova Scotia (Carmichael St. Georgetown), Account No. 0008860. A member can also send money via a Money Transfer Agency in the name of The New Building Society Limited quoting their account number.
From overseas a withdrawal can be made for one the following purposes -:
• Request to purchase of a Draft for remittance to the member directly
• Wire transfer to a bank account as advised by the member
• Payment to a local third party
In the case of (a) a member needs to send a notarised letter addressed to the Director/Secretary instructing the New Building Society Limited to withdraw enough funds from their account to purchase a foreign currency draft which is then posted to them directly. The notarised letter must be accompanied by copies of two pages of the member's passport (one page with the photograph and the other with the personal data viz. Date of Birth & Date of Issue etc.) or Identification Card or Driver's Licence.
In the case of (b) a member needs to send a notarised letter addressed to the Director/Secretary instructing the New Building Society Limited to withdraw enough funds from their account to cover the requested wire transfer of foreign currency. The notarised letter must include the
• Name and Address of the Bank,
• Bank No. if any,
• Name of Account Holder,
• Account No.,
• and Routing No. or A.B.A. No. or Transit Code or Sort Code.
This letter also must be accompanied by copies of two pages of the member's passport (one page with the photograph and the other with the personal data viz. Date of Birth & Date of Issue etc.) or Identification Card or Driver's Licence.
In the case of (c) a member needs to send a notarised authorisation (must ensure that the signature is clean) stating their Account No., the amount to be withdrawn and the Name, Address and telephone No. of the payee. This authorisation must be accompanied by copies of two pages of the member's passport (one page with the photograph and the other with the personal data viz. Date of Birth & Date of Issue etc.) or Identification Card or Driver's Licence and addressed to -:
